Pros & Cons Bistro Table Sets

Pros & Cons: Bistro Tables

The designers atMontibello 3 pc pub The RoomPlace has a soft spot for bistro tables. Elegant, functional, and affordable, they are that “magic solution” for many décor ideas. However, they aren’t for everyone. Take a look at the pros and cons to decide whether a bistro table should be the next addition to your home.

Pro: They’re a chic space saver.

Bistro tables bring flair and function to a room without eating up a lot of space. A bistro table set is a great choice if you live in a cozy apartment or home where you want beautiful style without feeling cramped.

Pro: They are multifunctional. Looking for that perfect place to read or get some work done? Pair it with a book holder or add a Turkish coffee set on top – the bistro table has you covered. If you’re searching for a furniture piece ideal for intimate meals, envision the Montibello Pub Table in your home. Bistro tables are adaptable, with the right additions they can serve multiple needs.

Con: It can only accommodate so many. If you’re planning to invite a dozen guests for dinner, they might not all fit at your bistro table and chairs. While the table provides a space to place dishes or snacks during a larger gathering, it isn’t an ideal seating solution for large parties.

Pro: It’s a decorative accent. High dining tables instantly conjure images of Parisian eateries or urban bistros. It’s a great way to add function and decorative flair to your space. The Irma Table is a perfect example: It can comfortably seat a family of four, but also has that “stop in your tracks” quality.

If you’re in the market for an affordable dining solution, then bistro tables might be the perfect fit for you. Find your match made in heaven at The RoomPlace today!

The RoomPlace opening new store in Indianapolis

Leadership Conference Videos 2019

INDIANAPOLIS — The RoomPlace will open its 22nd full-service store this week on Indianapolis’ north side in a move to build out its coverage in the market with the first of two new stores coming here.

The Top 100 company said the store at 8401 N. Michigan Road, in a former Gold’s Gym location, will open Friday with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. It’s the Lombard, Ill.-based retailer’s fourth showroom in the area. A fifth store in the market is slated to open later this year.

The store is part of an aggressive growth strategy for RoomPlace owner and Chairman Bruce Berman, who also has announced plans to open his first Easyhome franchise rent-to-own locations.

“We’re thrilled to continue our rapid expansion in Indianapolis,” RoomPlace CEO Paul Adams, said in a release. “We have been in this market since 2008 and find this city, its communities and residents to be a natural fit for our business.”

Berman previously told Furniture/Today that with the new Indianapolis showrooms, each about 30,000 square feet, he was making the move to strengthen the retailer’s advertising clout in the market. He noted that five stores “puts us in a much more competitive situation,” along the lines of RoomPlace’s penetration in Chicago, where it spreads advertising cost over 18 stores.

He declined to disclose the investment, but had said the company was renovating both new spaces, and the store designs will be similar to others the promotional to midpriced retailer has opened over the past few years.

The new location will create more than 20 new jobs, the company said.

“We have been able to grow at impressive speeds in the Indianapolis area,” Berman said. “We already have stores in Castleton, Greenwood and Carmel and are excited to add these two additional locations. Bringing new jobs to the area is something we’re passionate about, along with giving back to the community.”

The grand opening celebration includes a donation of $2,500 in furniture to Pike Township Fire Department. Consumers also will have a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree after signing up at the new store any time between May 23 and July 12.

The RoomPlace is No. 44 on Furniture/Today’s just-released Top 100 with estimated 2013 sales of $154 million at 22 Chicagoland and Indianapolis-area stores, including a clearance center.

Sit Down, Relax, and Recline

Recliners have been a staple in American households for some time (and for good reason). Furniture trends have always lauded the next big thing, and at one point in history, that’s exactly what the recliner was. While leather recliners and fabric recliners have been around for a while now, you may not know just how important this piece of furniture is. Check out these three cool facts about reclining chairs:

  • Recliners help with back pain: Think about it, normal straight backed chairs force us into two positions: the straight back or the slouch. Both positions tend to push weight onto our lower back, and that pressure may eventually lead to pain. Recliners, however, tend to support our weight more evenly, allowing our muscles to relax. So if you know someone suffering from back pain, do them a favor and recommend a recliner.
  • Recliners make great beds for pregnant women: Pregnant women often find it difficult to sleep in normal beds because they don’t offer enough support for the mid-section. To combat a restless night’s sleep, pregnant women should consider investing in a recliner. Recliners tend to support a pregnant woman’s weight in a way that beds can’t. The angle and design of a recliner make it a great choice for soon-to-be mothers.
  • Recliners in modern times: A man from Indiana, Daniel F. Caldemeyer, is credited with creating, not the first, but what has become, the modern day recliner. Further, his reclining technology was used in some of the first NASA space shuttle chairs.

For more facts and interesting tidbits, your Chicago bed store has you covered. At The RoomPlace, we have an array of modern recliners available now. So next time you’re on the hunt for great furniture near Indianapolis, come down and see us at one of our furniture stores near you.

The History of Your Favorite Living Room Furniture – The Sofa

Have you ever wondered about the history of your favorite furniture pieces? Take the sofa for instance: a piece of furniture we now take for granted, but without it, where would we spend time with our families? Before the 1600s, furniture was what you might call, minimalist. Chairs we’re generally straight-backed and only made of hardwood. Other home seating options included trunks or hardwood benches. But by the 17th century and well into the 18th, people began making comfort a priority.

Around the early 18th century, the first sofa came on the scene. What might look like a large, wide plush chair to modern day furniture aficionados, was the general design for the sofas of old. The first sofa design came out of England, and since then, people have continued to change, modernize, and re-imagine what a sofa can be.

Here at The RoomPlace, we pride ourselves on being part of this rich history. Every sofa, loveseat, and sectional we carry is part of a longer tradition. Sofas were created, in many ways, to give people a place to relax and connect. Today, our living rooms, and the furniture we place in them, give us a place to spend time with our families and friends. Whether you realize it or not, entwined within some of your most precious memories, could very well be your sofa and other furniture pieces. So next time you’re looking for a new sofa in Chicago, come on out to your local furniture dealers in Chicago. Become part of history today, check out our modern sofa collection, and see how far this historical piece of furniture has come.

Fill In Room Gaps with a Few Stylish Chairs

Have some of your rooms been feeling a little sparse lately? If so, you should consider adding a chair or two throughout your home. Chairs can take up a good amount of space depending on the size and type of chair you’re looking for. Whether you have an opening in your bedroom, living room, or office, a new plush chair can add style and versatility to any space.

Brown fabric chairs are some of our most popular designs at The RoomPlace. If you want to create a cozy place to sit and read a book in your bedroom or office, then consider adding one of these trendy chairs to your room. You can find a brown fabric chair in a number of different styles. Whether you’re looking for traditional or completely funky, our furniture store is a great place to start. If you’d prefer to lighten up a room with softer touches, then look into a beige leather chair. We currently have beige chairs that swivel, beige chairs that are surprisingly audacious, and beige chairs that offer subtlety to any space in your house that needs an update. Because chairs take up dramatically less space than loveseats or couches, you can even mix and match chair styles within a single room. You might be surprised to find that two seemingly dissimilar chairs can mesh well in a single space without cluttering or distracting from the room’s overall vibe.

If you’re interested in chair upholstery near Indianapolis or just want a finished piece you can add to a special room in your home, then you need to head down to The RoomPlace.  We have chairs in both leather and fabric, and we carry an assortment of colors. So no matter what you’re looking for, we can help you find it at one of our locations.

Get Ready, National Bed Month is Almost Here

We’ve been waiting all year for this, and now, it’s almost here. Do you know what the month of March is? It’s National Bed Month: the time of year where we recognize the cozy mattresses we spend nearly 1/3 of our lives curled up on.

Here at The RoomPlace, we know that sleep is an essential part of life. Sleep helps us relieve stress and allows time for our bodies to relax and our brains to do various tasks like consolidate memories. National Bed Month is meant to remind us of why we need sleep and how sleep can help us live happier and more productive lives.

A good night’s sleep starts with your mattress. We don’t have to tell you not to trust 1/3 of your life to just any old mattress, that fact should be obvious. If you’re ready to dump your old, bumpy mattress for a brand new model, come check out our selection of Simmons Mattresses, like our Simmons Beautysleep Kitner King Firm Cushion Low Profile Mattress Set. Americans Looking Forward to Some Exciting Home Trends in 2014

At The RoomPlace, we consider our role as furniture sellers a rather integrated one. Furniture is intertwined with interior design, other décor elements, and even the architecture of our customers’ homes. So it’s well worth our time to stay on top of the latest in home design and Chicago-area furniture trends. And we have to say, we’re greatly looking forward to the developments that 2014 will bring. Below are the top three trends we’ll be watching this year.

1.      A continued shift to more open spaces, with fewer boundaries between and within rooms. Open floor plans and arrangements allow for more versatility in a home, giving their occupants more flexibility in how they’re used. It also means that you are less restricted in your furniture choices.

2.      Designing for the long term. This means that homeowners are increasingly looking to update and rework the homes they have now in order to have a space they can live, grow, and age in over the long term. Increasing numbers of Americans are looking to stay in their homes rather than sell and buy a new one in the current real estate market. This kind of design takes into account details concerning mobility and usability issues for aging occupants—details like lever-style handles instead of doorknobs, motion sensor lighting, and bedrooms on the first floor.

3.      Bunk rooms, and other creative sleeping solutions. Many homeowners with growing families find themselves with challenging spacial options for accommodating everyone, and bunked beds (and other pieces like daybeds) are the natural solution.

What are you looking forward to in 2014? Are there any furniture- or design-specific trends you want to see?
