Upgrade to a Queen

Maybe your teen’s crazy growth spurts have finally gotten to the point where he’s outgrown his twin bed. Maybe you finally moved out of that cramped apartment and actually have some space in your bedroom. Or maybe you just had the Big Day and now need a mattress big enough for two. It’s time to buy a larger mattress, but you aren’t sure if you have the space—or the budget—to go all the way to a king-sized mattress. If this sounds like you, you should consider upgrading to a queen!

Queen mattresses come at a standard measurement of 60” wide by 80” long. This is a whopping 21 inch width advantage over a twin, allowing you the room to finally sprawl out in comfort—or providing ample space for two to sleep comfortably. While not as wide as a king-sized bed, for many small and medium sized bedrooms a queen is the more practical option, allowing a great deal of comfort without taking up the entire room. The eighty inches of length is the same as a king, and represents a five-inch increase over a twin.

Here at The RoomPlace, we offer a huge selection of queen-sized mattresses, so we’re confident that you’ll find one that provides the perfect level of firmness to match your unique sleeping preferences—all while staying in your budget. A good night’s sleep is one of the cornerstones of a happy, healthy life, so what are you waiting for? Stop by one of our stores and pick up one of the best mattresses in Chicago. Let our friendly staff take care of you and we’ll get you out the door and fast asleep in no time.

Picking the Right Lamp at The RoomPlace

Have you ever walked into an otherwise put-together room and something just felt….off? There’s a good chance that it might have been the lighting. Too many homeowners add lamps as an afterthought, not realizing that they’re one of the most important elements in establishing a room’s atmosphere. Not only are they essential in providing the lighting a room needs, but they’re also important accent pieces—really putting the finishing touches on a room’s décor. Picking the right lamp for your room can be tricky, which is why we here at The RoomPlace have a few helpful tips for you.

Complement the Unique Aspects of the Room

You wouldn’t just buy any sofa and put it in your living room, so why do so with a lamp? When picking your new lamp, consider the overall atmosphere you’re going for.  Is your décor modern? Elegant? Pick your lamp accordingly.

Size Matters

When choosing a lamp, size is doubly important. Lamp size will affect not only how much light it puts out, but also whether it complements or clashes with the space it occupies. Go too big, and the lamp might overcrowd the table you put it on. Too small, and it might not provide you with the amount of light you need.

Make A Statement

A lamp may be considered an accent piece, but it doesn’t need to be an afterthought. Don’t be afraid to pick a bold, standout lamp and build the room around it. With the right planning, your lamp could very well be the focal point of your living room!

If you’re looking for a new lamp, or have any other furniture needs, we hope you’ll stop by The RoomPlace! We’re experienced Chicago furniture dealers with a passion for customer service. We look forward to doing business with you!

Creating A Cozy Living Room

The living room is the centerpiece of your home, the area where you’ll spend the majority of your time and do all of your entertaining. And while the decorating possibilities of a living room are endless, ranging from the rustic to the ultra-modern, sometimes you just can’t beat the feel of a cozy den. Creating a living room that feels warm, comfortable, and inviting will help your guests feel welcome and allow you to relax after a tough day of work or taking care of the kids—here are some tips to help get you started:

  1. Start off by selecting a neutral or warm color palette for your paint, furniture, and rug selections. Avoid colors that are overly flashy or bright, and opt instead for soft, deep colors—like a rich burgundy or deep plum.
  2. Select a new sofa that’s comfortable and as large as your space will allow, without making the space feel cramped. Be sure to add an ottoman or two and to cover the sofa with an abundance of pillows and blankets to create a warm, comfortable atmosphere.
  3. If your floors are hardwood, consider adding a soft rug to keep your feet warm, even in the winter.
  4. Finally, no cozy living room is complete without a fireplace. Whether you opt for a woodburning or electric model, not only will a fireplace keep you warm in the winter, but it adds a year-round character that can’t be beat.

Whatever your furniture or decorating needs, we’ve got you covered here at The RoomPlace. Stop by one of our Indianapolis area furniture stores to browse our impressive selection, and get started transforming your home today!

Bedrooms Design Tips

Thinking About A Bunk Bed?

When I was little, I loved three things about my bedroom: my stuffed monkey, my books, and my bunk bed. And while these things have long been sold off at a garage sale or given to neighbors, I still cherish the memories of growing up sharing a bunk bed with my little brother. If your family includes small children and are looking for new bedroom furniture, we here at The RoomPlace definitely think you should consider investing in a bunk bed.

There are a number of advantages to bunk beds. We all know how crowded a house can feel with small children running about, and the extra space afforded by bunk beds is a welcome addition to any children’s bedroom. Bunking beds opens up extra space for storage as well as running around and playing with toys. Secondly, bunking beds are an affordable option. At The RoomPlace, we have a number of bunks beds available at great prices to provide the best value to you and your family.

Finally, bunk beds are fun! Nothing captures kids’ imaginations like bunk beds, and your children will spend hours and hours making forts, or playing inside their own person pirate ship or space shuttle. And with built in guard rails on the top bunk, you can rest assured that your children are not only having fun and sleeping soundly, but staying safe while they do so.

Here at The RoomPlace, we know that finding children’s furniture that is practical, affordable, and fun can be a challenge, but we’re here to make your life easy. Stop by for a visit and check out some of the best bedroom sets around Chicago

The RoomPlace opening new store in Indianapolis

Leadership Conference Videos 2019

INDIANAPOLIS — The RoomPlace will open its 22nd full-service store this week on Indianapolis’ north side in a move to build out its coverage in the market with the first of two new stores coming here.

The Top 100 company said the store at 8401 N. Michigan Road, in a former Gold’s Gym location, will open Friday with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. It’s the Lombard, Ill.-based retailer’s fourth showroom in the area. A fifth store in the market is slated to open later this year.

The store is part of an aggressive growth strategy for RoomPlace owner and Chairman Bruce Berman, who also has announced plans to open his first Easyhome franchise rent-to-own locations.

“We’re thrilled to continue our rapid expansion in Indianapolis,” RoomPlace CEO Paul Adams, said in a release. “We have been in this market since 2008 and find this city, its communities and residents to be a natural fit for our business.”

Berman previously told Furniture/Today that with the new Indianapolis showrooms, each about 30,000 square feet, he was making the move to strengthen the retailer’s advertising clout in the market. He noted that five stores “puts us in a much more competitive situation,” along the lines of RoomPlace’s penetration in Chicago, where it spreads advertising cost over 18 stores.

He declined to disclose the investment, but had said the company was renovating both new spaces, and the store designs will be similar to others the promotional to midpriced retailer has opened over the past few years.

The new location will create more than 20 new jobs, the company said.

“We have been able to grow at impressive speeds in the Indianapolis area,” Berman said. “We already have stores in Castleton, Greenwood and Carmel and are excited to add these two additional locations. Bringing new jobs to the area is something we’re passionate about, along with giving back to the community.”

The grand opening celebration includes a donation of $2,500 in furniture to Pike Township Fire Department. Consumers also will have a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree after signing up at the new store any time between May 23 and July 12.

The RoomPlace is No. 44 on Furniture/Today’s just-released Top 100 with estimated 2013 sales of $154 million at 22 Chicagoland and Indianapolis-area stores, including a clearance center.

The More You Know: Occasional Tables

Have you ever heard the term “occasional table?” If so, you’ve probably wondered what exactly it is. Occasional tables were some of the first pieces of furniture to ever show up in modern day homes. The first occasional tables were more like dining room tables with leaf inserts that made them easy to expand for extra guests. Today, however, occasional tables are a little different.

Here at The RoomPlace, we over an array of occasional tables. Many of these tables actually come in matching sets. Matching furniture can be a hassle, and you certainly don’t want your coffee table clashing with your side tables or decorative tables. That’s where occasional tables come in. The beauty of occasional tables is that they often come in sets that offer design complexity while still looking like they belong together. Occasional tables are thus named for their versatility; they’re easy to move around and use, especially if you need space for guests.

Occasional tables sometimes come in stacked form, meaning you can literally put one over the other. For smaller homes, this is (and was) a great way to clear up some space when needed. Here at your clearance furniture store near Schaumburg, we offer all types of occasional tables. Whether you’re looking for cohesive sets, stackable tables, wood tables, or glass tables, we can help you find exactly what’s on your list.

Don’t you think it’s about time you got creative with your space? Occasional tables will help you transform your rooms again and again. Whether you’re looking for some new bedroom furniture, or you need to add a few new pieces to your office or living space, we think occasional tables are exactly what you need. Come see us today!

Dining Rooms

Dining Room Tables for Small Spaces

If you’re moving, or currently live in, a small space, you can’t afford to crowd a room with an oversized dining room table. Depending on your design aesthetics, we have a number of great dining sets here at your local Chicago furniture store. Before you buy, take the following advice into consideration:

  • Measure Your Dining Area: Don’t “eyeball” your dining space. When you head into The RoomPlace, you’ll see that we house our furniture in a large building. What might look smaller or larger in our space might look completely different in yours. Don’t risk buying a table that’s simply too big. Before you head in, measure the dimensions of your dining room or breakfast nook. Jot those numbers down on a piece of paper, bring them in, and our friendly furniture experts will do the rest.
  •  Pay Attention to Shape: For smaller spaces, we’d recommend checking out a square or circular table. Rectangular tables are absolutely gorgeous, but they tend be better for homes with more square footage. We currently carry numerous small square or circular tables in wood or metal. If you’re interested in a glass top, we have that too!

Today’s modern designs call for simplicity, openness, and clean lines. Don’t stuff up your dining room with a table that’s simply too large. We have so many dining set options for you to choose from, and we can’t wait to find the right one for you. After all, your dining room is an important part of your home. Get your family and friends around a table that feels like home too. Come on in to your Indianapolis area furniture store, and let us help you re-imagine your space.

A New TV Stand for Your Flat Screen

More and more people are investing in new TV stands for their large, flat screen televisions. While some choose to hang their TVs on a living room or bedroom wall, this practice can end in some unexpected costs. For instance, to hide the wires, you’ll often have to cut into the wall behind your TV, and if you don’t want to leave a large hole, you’ll need to have a professional handle the job. If you choose not to hide the wires, you might find that they become a pretty terrible eyesore overtime.

All things considered, one of your best plans of action is to simply purchase a beautiful new TV stand from The RoomPlace that can do the job for you. A TV stand is a great way to store your electronics, and they generally have holes in the back that make running (and concealing) the wires to an outlet easy. In our current inventory, we have both contemporary and traditional TV stands available in either wood or metal. Plus, did you know you could find a TV stand with a built-in electronic fireplace? Depending on the size of your current television and the various electronics you need to store nearby, we’re sure we have a beautiful piece of furniture that can do the job.

So next time you’re nearby and looking for a TV stand at your Indianapolis area furniture dealer, drop in today to see our inventory. We carry a vast selection of furniture in Chicago, like bedroom sets, sofas, dining tables, TV stands, and more. Be sure to check out our current sales and discuss furniture options with one of our sales reps. We’re looking forward to working with you!
