Change of Space: Winner Follow-Up

In 2019, Windy City Live and The RoomPlace partnered up to launch the “Change of Space” contest that gave one lucky winner an entire room makeover! Winning the contest was a complete surprise to Traci Smith, since her son Jordan, was the one who entered his hard-working single-mom in the contest! Leading up to winning the “Change of Space” contest, Traci lived in her apartment for a whole year without any living room furniture – one of the many sacrifices she made to give her son the best she could. Traci was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Windy City Live host, Val Warner, where she was then taken on a shopping spree at our largest and newest RoomPlace store at Lincolnwood Town Center. After exploring the whole store, Traci found her picture perfect living room set to complete her room makeover! Check out the Windy City Live Show segment of Traci receiving her living room makeover here: https://abc7chicago.com/home/the-room-place-gives-single-mom-apartment-makeover/5585231/

Getting to Know Jordan

None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for Traci’s son, Jordan! We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to reconnect with Jordan and hear what he has been up to since entering his mom in the “Change of Space” contest. Jordan is a 21 year old hard-working young man who enjoys being active! Whether it’s participating in basketball, baseball or soccer, Jordan is up for the challenge. Jordan will be entering his senior year of college at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) to complete his degree in Health Sciences, but it doesn’t end there! Jordan plans to expand his education by pursing a career in pharmacy. Throughout the summer and into his senior year, he plans to take advantage of his Pharmacy Technician license in training by gaining experience and learning the ins and outs of being a pharmacist.

When we asked Jordan what his goal in life was, he shared that being able to provide for his family and give back to his mom is his ultimate goal. Additionally, he informed us that the RoomPlace and Windy City Live were able to help him start accomplishing his goal when his mom was awarded the Florence collection living room set   complete with all the accessories, wall art and rug to complete the transformation! The RoomPlace was, and is, honored to support Jordan in achieving his goals!

Last year, without hesitation, Jordan wanted to find a way to give back to his mom, so it is only appropriate to return the favor. This time, the RoomPlace is honored to give Jordan a leg up by helping him upgrade a bedroom for himself! Jordan chose our best-selling Denver Bedroom Group, that is available in both white and gray. Jordan thought white would go best with his room! Again, we want to congratulate Jordan on being accepted into the Health and Sciences Program at IUPUI and we hope your new RoomPlace bedroom set suites you well! We also want to thank Shay and her team at our Merrillville, Indiana location for assisting Jordan in finding the perfect bedroom set!

Bedroom Layout Ideas – The RoomPlace

The bedroom is a place to sleep, but it’s also so much more. For some, it doubles as a place to unwind and watch TV. For others, it’s a blissful retreat or a cozy home office. The layout of a bedroom needs to reflect the function of the space, and these layout ideas from The RoomPlace can help you align the two.

Determine Bedroom Function

You know a bed is going to be part of your bedroom set, but other furniture pieces may vary. Determine how you want to use the room so you can pinpoint the pieces you need.

For a place to unwind, you may want an entertainment center with a TV and music options.

For a retreat, you might want to focus on a sumptuous mattress and luxurious décor. For a cozy home office, you’ll want to include a desk and storage cabinets.

Arrange the Pieces

Place the Bed: As the largest piece of bedroom furniture, the bed needs to be placed first. Where you place it depends on the location of the doorway and the size of the room. Put the foot of the bed closer to the doorway than the head of the bed. Large bedrooms work well with beds placed in the corner for a cozy feel, while smaller and medium-sized rooms make the most of space with the bed against the wall opposite the doorway.

Balance the Room: Balance out the room by placing the second-largest piece of furniture opposite the bed. This could be a dresser, entertainment center or desk, depending on the function of the bedroom. In smaller bedrooms, leave the wall opposite the bed devoid of furniture to maximize available space.

Add Nightstands: Regardless of your bedroom’s overall function and theme, nightstands are both handy and attractive. Place one on either side of the bed if you have enough space.

Consider Function: Determine what activities you need to do in the room, and arrange furniture in a way that makes them work. If you plan to watch TV in your bed, for instance, you’ll want the TV or entertainment center in an area where you can easily see it. If your bedroom functions as your home office, make sure the desk is easily accessible and near storage cabinets you may need.

Consider Comfort: Asses any areas that may be drafty or overly hot, such as near a window or directly below a vent. Avoid placing your bed in those areas. Sunlight can also play a role in furniture placement, as you may not want the morning sun streaming directly in your face or the evening sun streaming directly on your TV.

After you review all the items on the list, your bedroom layout will be ready to go. Add wall art, an area rug, plants and other extras as desired to emphasize the overall theme and pull the entire look together. Enjoy your personalized sanctuary for sleeping—and so much more. Browse for furniture at The RoomPlace to get started now.

How to Make a Sectional Work in Your Space

Sectionals have a way of transforming any space into an inviting haven. But you might think you don’t have enough room for it to work. Think again. You don’t necessarily need a massive area to make a sectional work. Sectionals can create a cozy ambiance in rooms of various sizes. These tips from The RoomPlace tell you how.

Take Measurements

While sectionals can work in rooms of different sizes, you still need to make sure the sizing is right. This applies to the room in which you’ll be placing the sectional as well as the entryways leading into that room. Measure doorways to ensure what you purchase can actually get into your house.

Also measure the length and width of the chosen room. Determine the general area in which your new sectional will be placed, then measure specific areas to ensure you have adequate space to accommodate the sectional’s various pieces.

Sectionals can include anywhere from two to six or more pieces, with options that include sofas, ottomans, chairs and chaises. Once you have the measurements of the room and a good idea of space available for specific pieces, you’ll know the type of sectional and pieces that will work for you.

Determine Arrangement

Your next step is to nail down exactly where each piece of your sectional will be placed. This can be challenging, especially in smaller rooms, but it can be done with advance planning and a number of helpful tips.

Remove other furniture: Too many furniture pieces can make a room appear crammed and cluttered. They can also eat up space that could otherwise be used for your new sectional. Eliminate extra floor lamps, end tables, chairs or other pieces that take up unnecessary space or wont’ be needed when your new seating arrangement arrives.

Approximate wall distance: When it comes to aesthetics, sectionals generally look better when placed away from the walls. Placing it in a corner against a wall, however, is an ideal way to maintain as much open floor space as possible. Figure out if you want the sectional against the wall or away from it. If you choose the latter, make sure it doesn’t impede traffic flow around the room or block any doorways. It should also leave enough room for people to walk around and behind it as needed.

Pinpoint your focus: Every room tends to have at least one focal point, which can be the entertainment center, fireplace or stunning artwork. You want your sectional to be placed in a way that emphasizes the focal point instead of detracting from it. You don’t want the sectional itself to be the focal point.

Choose color wisely: If you think the sectional may look too massive in your space, consider going for a lighter color. If you prefer a darker color, you can lighten it up with decorative throw pillows. Throw pillows are also handy for adding a pop of color, contributing to coziness and hiding any stains on the main fabric.

With your game plan in place, selecting a sectional that works for your space can be an exciting endeavor instead of a stressful one. Get started now by browsing the sectional selection at The RoomPlace.

Tips to Refresh Your Living Room Design – The RoomPlace

Your living room is meant to be one of the most welcoming spaces in your home, and you can ensure it lives up to that status with any number of strategic changes. These tips from The RoomPlace can help you refresh your living room design, with options that are subtle or bold as you desire.

Swap Out the Old Sofa

As the room’s main seating area and major focal point, your living room sofa really needs to pop. Does it? Look at your sofa through a fresh set of eyes to determine if it needs a bit of refreshing. A new slipcover may be able to do the trick, or you could go all out and invest in a new sofa that breathes new life into the room, instantly.

Go for Brand New Living Room Set

If it’s more than the sofa that needs a lift, you can try a full-scale living room set. Sets come with ample seating in matching pieces that can be arranged and rearranged to suit your needs and mood. You’ll also find a generous selection of materials, colors and styles to create just the look you want.

Add New Accents

A few new accent pieces can create a whole new ambiance for the room. Try a large mirror or other wall décor to perk up a tired wall. A new lamp can literally shed new light on the room. An eye-catching area rug can pull the whole room together. Accent furniture can add a dash of class while combining style with function.

Include a Savvy Chair (or Two)

You know those sophisticated chairs that always catch your eye? Now is the time to buy one. Just like accent furniture, a stylish accent chair can add a sophisticated vibe to the entire space. The style choices are downright amazing, and material options range from velvet to leather with patterned fabric and studs in between.

Revamp Your Storage

Perhaps your existing credenza could use a boost. Or maybe you don’t have adequate storage in your living room at all. Either way, a new cabinet or buffet could again bring you a functional piece with incredible style. Enclosed storage pieces not only let you easily stash needless clutter, but they can serve as a sensational focal point.

Get the Perfect Table

Another way to pull the entire room together is with the perfect coffee table. The coffee table is another focal point of the room, so it needs to be worthy of all that attention. Look for a piece that fits the size, style and colors of the room while serving as a central hub for the seating area. If a coffee table is not your thing, occasional tables are another choice for adding more surface area with style. With so many ways to refresh your living room design, it may be tough to stop at just one. You certainly don’t have to. The RoomPlace is stocked with living room seating, tables, accents and décor to fit any style and budget. Start shopping now.

Patio Set Buying Guide – The RoomPlace

The time has come to invest in the perfect patio furniture, but you may not be sure where to begin. This patio set buying guide from The RoomPlace can steer you in the right direction. Here we walk you through the basics of selecting outdoor furniture pieces that serve your purposes, stand up to the elements and consistent use, and create a gorgeous outdoor space you’ll want to enjoy as frequently as you can.

List the Functions

Before you can determine the patio set that will suit your needs, you must know what those needs are. Make list of all the functions you want your patio area to serve. Perhaps you want a place to hold family dinners, casual get-togethers, children’s playdates—or a combination of activities. Knowing how you want to use the area directly correlates to the furniture you’ll need to get.

List the Furniture that Aligns with Functions

Determine which patio furniture pieces align with the activities you intend to engage in. If you’re amped up for family dinners and barbecues, you’ll definitely want a patio set that comes with a dining table. Children’s playdates or cozy get-togethers would do best with sets that include sectionals you can rearrange into intimate seating options.

You can also break down the patio into separate areas that serve different functions. Put a patio table and chairs in the main area for dining, along with a cozy bench and table off the side to create a welcoming reading nook.

If you want to relax, consider:

  • Adirondack chairs
  • Outdoor lounge chairs
  • Outdoor chaises
  • Hammocks
  • Couches and sectionals

If you want to dine outdoors, consider:

  • Bistro table and chairs
  • Patio dining table and chairs
  • Barstools and tall tables
  • Outdoor café sets

If you want to entertain outdoors, consider:

  • Patio sectionals
  • Outdoor couches
  • Outdoor floor pillows
  • Outdoor dining tables that double as entertainment centers

Choose Quality

While it may be tempting to go for the cheapest patio sets you can find, it’s not necessarily the wisest move. Unless, of course, you enjoy purchasing patio furniture every few years or so. Plastic outdoor furniture is typically the quickest to break down and fade. You’re better off investing in quality materials, such as durable woods, metal, porcelain and other materials that last for the long haul.

Look for Low Maintenance

You want to spend your time on the patio relaxing and enjoying yourself, not constantly scrubbing down or repairing furniture. Go for pieces that are easy to maintain. Features to look for include maintenance-free cast aluminum frames, UV protection, and removable cushions wrapped in fabrics that are a cinch to keep clean.

Add Color Strategically

Adding pops of color to your patio can perk up the space, and the best way to do it is with accessories. Colorful throw pillows work well, as do accessories such as bright umbrellas and cushions. The furniture itself will last longest and appear cleanest if it’s a darker or neutral color. Dark brown, beige and natural wood tones are ideal choices. Choosing neutral pieces also gives you the greatest amount of versatility. You can change up the look with different pillows, cushions and accessories without having to invest in a new patio set.

Pull the Space Together

Another strategic move is to pull the space together with an outdoor area rug. Not only does an outdoor rug help pull the look together, but it can also add even more color to the space. Many rugs are quick-drying, some are reversible and others may have striking, eye-catching patterns. If you’ve divided your patio into different areas, such as a dining space and a reading space, select a different area rug for each space.

Invest in Versatile Pieces

Make the most of your patio furniture investment by looking for pieces that are versatile. This can include patio sets that feature sectionals, which can be arranged and rearranged as needed or desired. It can also include pieces that serve more than one function.

Benches that double as storage trunks or low tables are a good example, as are ottomans that can be used as foot rests or extra seating. If your patio is on the smaller side, you may also want to consider pieces that can be easily folded up or stacked for easy storage when not in use.

Careful planning is key to finding the perfect patio set that suits your needs, and you now have all the steps at your disposal. Start by listing the functions of the patio space, along with the furniture that aligns with those functions. Opt for high-quality, low-maintenance pieces that are versatile enough to do double duty. Add color with pillows and accessories. Pull the space together with an outdoor area rug. All that’s left to do now is order just the right pieces from The RoomPlace. Shop patio furniture now.

Prep Your Deck for Summer – The RoomPlace

As warm weather comes rolling in, you want your outdoor space to be ready for action. The backyard deck is always a crowd-pleasing place, whether it’s for afternoon barbecues, evening chats or morning coffee. Get your deck into tip-top shape with these tips from The RoomPlace.

Clear and Inspect

Starting with a clean slate is the best way to go, and completely clearing off your deck is the way to do it. Winter can be harsh on your deck as well as your outdoor items. Remove them all from the deck’s surface, then check the deck as well as the items. Discard or repurpose anything that’s broken or too faded for use going forward. Make sure the entire surface is clear so you can move on to the next step.

Scrub the Deck

Your first task is to sweep all dirt and debris off your deck. The next is to clean the deck’s surface. The cleaning method you use depends on the deck’s material. Certain materials and some wood decks can be cleaned with a power washer, provided you keep the pressure low enough to avoid damage.

Another option is to use a long-handled scrub brush to manually clean the surface. Opt for a specialized deck cleaner or a mix of vinegar and water. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to 1 gallon of water to create a scrubbing solution. Rinse with your hose and allow the deck to dry.

Clean Outdoor Items As you’re waiting for your deck to dry, you can clean any items that are going back on your deck. This includes outdoor rugs, planters, patio furniture and other accessories that could use a good washing. Outdoor rugs can often be power washed, while certain outdoor cushions may fit in the washing machine for laundering.

Bring it Back (to the Deck)

Once your deck surface and all the items are clean and dry, it’s time to put everything back into place. Feel free to keep the same arrangement that’s been working over the years, or try a new configuration to mix things up. As you’re putting things back into place on a squeaky-clean deck, you may notice that some items could use a sprucing up. Perhaps old patio sets could use repainting, or tired cushions could use replacing.

Refresh the Look

Repainting old patio furniture and purchasing new outdoor cushions are one way to perk up your outdoor space. Investing in new patio furniture and accessories is another. You may be amazed at the difference a modern end table or streamlined loveseat can make. Review the furniture arrangement and determine if you could use more seating, an attractive dining table or perhaps a new bench in an area that’s crying out for something new. With your cleaning, sprucing and refreshed outdoor furniture, your deck will be ready for anything. Check out the options at The RoomPlace if you still need a few pieces to pull it all together before the summer comes officially rolling in

Tips When Buying Furniture Online – The RoomPlace

Deciding to buy furniture online means you will be able to choose from a much wider selection than you would if you visited a store. No matter what type of furniture you are looking for, you are sure to find the pieces that will show off your personality and style. However, before placing your order, there are some things you’ll need to consider when buying furniture online.

Pick the Right Store

Getting information about the store you are buying from will ensure that you are working with a reputable and trustworthy dealer. Before browsing the inventory, take a moment to read the About Us page to get some background on the business. If you can’t seem to find this page or the information seems vague or generic, it’s in your best interest to move along.

You want to work with a store that has been in business for a while and knows what they’re doing when it comes to selling furniture. It’s pays to be cautious, and this can save you a lot of

frustration and stress in the long run. Thus, when it comes to buying furniture online, make sure you pick the right store.

Check Out Customers Reviews

While you are online looking at the different furniture store options, this is a good opportunity to read customer reviews. These will give you insight into what it’s like to work with a particular online store. It’s important to remember that no place can make everyone happy, so the store may have some negative reviews. However, they should have more positive reviews than bad ones.

If you’re so inclined, you can also use this moment to check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to see if any complaints have been filed against a specific store. They don’t necessarily have to be registered with the BBB, but you shouldn’t find any records of complaints, either.

Know Your Measurements

Before you start furniture shopping online, make sure you measure the space for your new furniture at least twice. This will make sure that you don’t get a couch or coffee table that is too large or too small for the room. It will also ensure that the new bedroom furniture can fit through the door.

Most online stores share the furniture measurements in the description, but if you can’t find them, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask—especially if you really like the piece.

Look for a Large Selection

One of the reasons you are looking for chairs or dining rooms sets online is because you want to see what options exist. Thus, you’ll want to work with an online store that has a wide range of options to choose from. This will ensure that you get the pieces that will add style and sophistication to your home.

Check Out the Shipping Costs

One of the biggest things that many shoppers forget to consider when shopping online is that they may have to pay shipping costs. Depending on what you order and how large or heavy it is, this could wind up being several hundred dollars. Most of the time, the shipping cost is calculated during checkout, so pay attention to how much it is.

On the other hand, some online stores offer free shipping if you order a certain dollar amount or you may be able to get a lower shipping cost by ordering multiple pieces. Having this information before hitting the Buy button could wind up saving you a lot of money.

The Fun of Online Shopping

Finding the right online furniture store may take some time and effort, but once you find a place that is reputable, has a huge selection, and fits within your budget, you won’t have to shop anywhere else.

At The RoomPlace, we pride ourselves on having years of experience and many different furniture options to choose from. Start your search with us, and you won’t have to go anywhere else!

Spring Cleaning (and Organizing) Checklist

As the weather gets warmer and the animals and plants come out of hibernation, this is the perfect time to get ready to do some spring cleaning. Not only is this the best time to get rid of the dust and other debris from winter, but it is also a good time to open up your house and let some fresh air in. However, the spring cleaning process can also be daunting. If you find yourself wondering “how do I start spring cleaning my house,” check out the tips listed below.

Clean Room by Room

The best way to get your home clean for spring is to take it one step at a time. If you clean room by room, you won’t feel so overwhelmed, and you’ll get a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when the room is done.

The best way to approach the cleaning process in each room is to ignore things that have been recently cleaned and focus on items that haven’t been touched all winter. For example, if you

normally dust every room in your home and run the vacuum or mop the floors, then you don’t need to do these steps right now.

Instead, you should focus on wiping down walls and baseboards or cleaning your furniture. You can also take down any window treatments you might have and throw those into the wash or take them to the dry cleaner (whatever cleaning method is appropriate to get them clean).

Get Rid of Clutter

One of the reasons your house probably feels so dirty is because you have a lot of clutter. Spring cleaning is the best time to get rid of items that you no longer want or need. If the items are broken, you should throw them away. If they are still in good condition, you might consider donating them or getting things together to have a garage sale.

Give Everyone a Job

You are not the only person responsible for spring cleaning the house, and if you are wondering how do you spring clean fast, the answer is that you get help. Every member of the family can help in some way. Even young kids have the ability to pick things up from the floor.

To get the job done quickly and efficiently, make sure to assign jobs that everyone can handle and do well. Otherwise, you’ll have to redo the task, and that can slow the process down.

Take Breaks

While you may be focused on getting your spring cleaning done as soon as possible, you don’t want to burn yourself out. Make sure to take breaks every once in a while to grab something to eat and stretch.

You might consider setting a timer for 20 minutes and then taking a 3-minute break, or you can set the timer for 1 hour and then take a 15-minute break. You can even turn on the radio and work as long as the music is playing. Once the commercials come on, you can take a break.

No matter which option you choose, taking breaks is a great way to ensure you stay motivated. Spring cleaning is a big chore, but you shouldn’t work yourself to exhaustion to get everything accomplished.

Time for a Change

Spring is the time for change. If during your spring cleaning you notice that your furniture seems a bit dingy and won’t come clean, then it’s time to find some new pieces. Visit The RoomPlace and check out their huge selection of furniture. This is the perfect time to add something fresh and new to your home.

Dining Set Buying Guide – The RoomPlace

One of the most important pieces of furniture you’ll have in your home is your dining set. Not only is this the place where your friends and family will gather for delicious meals and good times, but it’s also where kids will do homework and a place where you can play games. It’s also one of the focal points of your home.

Having the right dining set can drastically change how your room looks. Thus, it’s imperative that you take the time and effort to find the dining set that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. To make this process as easy and stress-free as possible, read the following tips on how to buy the right dining set.

Consider the Size

The first thing you’ll need to think about when buying a new dining set is what size you’ll need. Not only should you be thinking about how many people will be gathering around the table, but you also need to think about the size of the room. To ensure that you are getting the right sized table, you’ll need to take measurements.

It’s important that you think about the size of the table and the chairs that will be added to the room. Everyone who sits at the table should have enough room to pull the chair out so that they can slide into it quickly and easily. You also don’t want the chairs banging into the walls or other items in the dining room, as this can cause a lot of damage.

If you have enough room and you plan on having guests over for gatherings, you might decide to get a larger table and some extra chairs. Even if you don’t use them every day, having them for when people visit will ensure that everyone fits comfortably around your dining room table.

Focus on the Table

Since the table is the centerpiece of the dining set, you want to find something that expresses your style and personality. There are many different options to choose from, and you can go with something more traditional or you have the option of getting a table that is more modern.

Traditional Options

Should you decide to go with something more traditional, you will be looking for a wood table. Some of the most popular choices for dining room tables include cherry, mahogany, and oak. Traditional tables generally give off an air of regality, and they can come with intricate designs or decorative carvings in the wood.

In some cases, a traditional table will have a pedestal rather than four legs for support, and you can usually make a traditional table larger by adding table leafs. When it comes to the chairs that go around a traditional table, they will often be as elegant as the table and will probably come with arms.

Modern Flair

If you are looking to add some modern flair to your dining room, most modern tables incorporate glass into their design and are paired with metal or wood. You might even be able to find a modern table that incorporates granite or marble.

Modern tables are often simple with little to no decoration, but they will still stand out and can make your home look incredibly stylish. When it comes to the dining chairs that go around the table, these might have some more designs and style, which will help you add even more flair to your modern dining set.

Find the Right Shape

The most common shape for dining room tables are square and rectangular, and you’ll have a lot of options to choose from if you decide to go this route. But you also have the option of adding round or oval tables to your space, and these can save you some space.

If you plan on having a lot of get-togethers and you want to encourage conversation, then you might want to consider getting a round or oval table. With this option, you’ll also be able to squeeze in as many people as possible around the perimeter of the table.

Not only do you want to consider shape when looking for a new dining room set, but you’ll also need to consider the type of support it has. There are three main types: trestle, pedestal, and legs. These can all have an impact on how people sit at your dining room table and how chairs slide under.

Both the pedestal and trestle options give you more flexibility when it comes to adding people around the table. These supports won’t get in the way and impact how many people can fit. A trestle table will have more space on the sides, but may have limited space on the ends.

Having a table with legs can add more support. As long as you are aware of where the legs are and how it will impact people’s ability to sit around the table, you can find a way to get everyone to fit and still be comfortable at the same time.

Shop at the Right Store

There are lot of things to consider when looking for the right dining room set for your home. You want something that is going to be functional but also looks really good. If you’re looking for selection and variety, then you should see what The RoomPlace has to offer.

From modern to traditional, we have the dining room sets that will add something extra to your space. Browse our selection to find the right dining set that will look fantastic in your home.

Creating the Perfect Patio Fire Pit Gathering Space

Patio

A patio fire pit is an automatic draw for its warmth and ambiance, and it gets even better when you create the perfect gathering space to experience it. You have several factors to consider when designing your ideal patio fire pit gathering space, and The RoomPlace is ready to walk you through all of them.

Make It an Exclusive Space

While your fire pit is best located on your patio, you want it separate from your main dining area. People tend to sit around the fire after dinner, not during it, and you want to set aside a special place for after-dinner relaxation. Make sure there is a clear path from the dining area to the fire pit area with no obstacles or hazards to impede traffic from one area to the other.

Choose an Optimum Location

Choose a location that has enough room for the fire pit as well as ample seating around it. Most fire pits are about no larger than about 4 feet across, and you’ll want an additional 6 feet around it on all sides. Consider the type of seating you plan to use, as some outdoor patio furniture takes up more space than others. An Adirondack bench or chair, for instance, is going to take up more room than a standard patio dining chair.

You may also want to position the fire pit in a place where you can view it from inside the house. That way you’ll be able to enjoy its ambiance even if the weather is too frightful to do it from outside.

Select the Fire Pit Type

Once you determine the fire pit location, the next step is to choose the fire pit type. If you’re not intending to have one built into your patio, you can purchase a portable wood-burning fire pit or a modern fire pit that runs on propane. Options run the gamut from shallow wood-burning bowls to fire pit tables you can switch on with the turn of a switch. Keep the overall look of your patio in mind, whether it’s rustic or contemporary, to retain a cohesive look.

firepits

Select the Fire Pit Seating

Most fire pit gatherings are rather casual and intimate, which makes cozy seating options ideal. You can opt for seating all the way around the fire pit, or choose to leave a pathway area open for easier access. The type of seating you choose depends on the look and layout you want to achieve.

Some fire pit tables are part of a fire pit patio set, giving you an instant and easy put-together look. You could opt for an elegant look with wedge benches and other cushioned patio furniture, or choose a more rustic vibe with wooden Adirondack benches and chairs.

Once you put it all together, you’ll have the perfect gathering area around your fire pit. It will be in a prime location, provide a cozy retreat from the main patio area, and give your guests ample room to congregate around the fire for cozy conversation and relaxation. Shop outdoor patio sets and more at The RoomPlace now.
